The Jazz won 127-121, in a contest where Memphis center Jaren Jackson Jr. was ejected in the third quarter after getting two technical fouls, and Jenkins got a technical in that same sequence as well.“Saddle up. Ottawa man arrested after allegedly inciting hate, antisemitism OTTAWA — An Ottawa man was arrested near Toronto this weekend after he was allegedly caught on video inciting hatred and expressing antisemitic views.Ottawa police have charged Mohammed Assadi with breaking several bail conditions and hope to keep him in jail while Toronto’s hate crime unit investigates.The Crown says Toronto and Ottawa’s police hate-crimes units are working together on the case.Crown attorney Moiz Karimjee told the court it’s important the public and victims of antisemitism have confidence in the administration of justice and the rule of law. Assadi’s bail hearing has yet to be scheduled. Assadi also faces outstanding charges, including assault and breaking and entering, which have yet to be tested in court. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 12, 2023. The Canadian Press

2 arrests, dozens evacuated from apartment fire possibly caused by fireworks, authorities say ATLANTA (AP) — Two people have been arrested in connection with a fire that damaged an Atlanta apartment complex and led to more than a hundred evacuations. Atlanta news outlets reported that the fire happened Friday night. Firefighters were still on the scene Saturday putting out hotspots. Investigators believe the fire may have been caused by fireworks being ignited on the roof, police said.Seventeen people were treated for smoke inhalation as a result of the blaze at the Reserve at LaVista Walk apartments. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the Red Cross is assisting 28 displaced residents. The two suspects face charges of first-degree criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.An Atlanta police officer was among the apartment building’s residents. Bill could add gun safety, hunting course to Michigan schools LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Michigan State Senator Jon Bumstead (R- North Muskegon) has introduced a bill to allow schools to offer an option for a gun safety and hunting course.  Bumstead introduced Senate Bill 664 with the backing of the Michigan Department of Education and the Department of Natural Resources. It’s also supported by the Michigan United Conservation Club.  Amy Trotter, CEO of Michigan United Conservation Club, said offering a class in school will foster an appreciation of conserving the state’s natural resources.  “We simply want to create future conservation stewards throughout our state,” she told Nexstar's WLNS. “And the best way to do that is through education. Colorado joins growing list of states banning plastic bags DENVER (KDVR) — For those in Colorado, plastic grocery bags will soon be a thing of the past.Stores throughout the state have had to charge a 10-cent fee for every single-use bag they provide to customers since the start of 2023. Retailers could choose whether or not to keep providing plastic or paper single-use bags, with some, such as Walmart, eliminating single-use bags altogether.A second part of the law, passed in 2021, will take effect in January 2024. At that point, stores and some food establishments will no longer be allowed to buy new single-use plastic bags.These establishments will still be able to provide the bags to customers for the fee, provided they still have some in stock.
