ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – It’s been a long three months for Genesis, her husband Richard and their three children after they traveled thousands of miles for a better life in the U.S. They were all detained along the U.S. - Mexico border.“As soon as they crossed the border in Texas the family was separated,” said Bill Sherman, a community organizer with Allies for Justice Schenectady County. “Richard was detained, and he had been there for three months.” That was until Thursday, just after midnight. After they were detained at the border Genesis and her children were released the next day while Richard remained in custody, bouncing around Texas.Sherman met Genesis soon after she arrived in Rotterdam and felt compelled to help. (NEWS10) — The park where a nine year old girl was abducted on Sunday has now reopened with authorities making safety improvements.Moreau Lake state park is back open now, just a few days after a child was abducted here. SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The South Glens Falls Police Department has arrested two individuals for allegedly stealing from a local business on September 22. Darcy D. BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The Belleville Humane Society is treating 14 dogs as the St. Louis area sees a spike in dogs surrendered from commercial breeders. According to the BISSELL Pet Foundation, shelters around the St. Louis region are helping more than 130 dogs in need of care. The foundation is also covering the costs associated with preparing these rescued dogs for travel with vaccinations and health certificates. Late Northern Colorado and NFL star Vincent Jackson is among an eight-member class that will be inducted into the CHSAA Hall of Fame, the association announced Thursday.Joining the Widefield High School grad in the Class of 2023 are Jan Anderson (Denver East), Sue and Al Snyder (Simla), Mike Palloto (Roosevelt), Jane Silver (Mancos), Linda Witt (University) and Abby Waner Bartolotta (ThunderRidge). The group will be officially inducted in a ceremony Monday, Jan. 30, at the Douglas County School District’s Legacy Campus.Jackson, who was a straight-A student at Widefield before starring at UNC and playing 12 seasons in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will be inducted posthumously.
