Marble Falls teachers awarded thousands of dollars for their ideas

MARBLE FALLS, Texas (KXAN) -- Equipped with cowbells and oversized checks, a group of donors from the Marble Falls Education Foundation (MFEF) and district administrators roamed the hallways of MFISD schools making noise in a usually quiet school. The disruption in the school day was a welcome one for MFISD teachers. The cowbell-tolling group were bringing a much needed surprise with them. The group handed out $72,000 of grant money to teachers and staff throughout the day. Grants 4 Great Ideas The program is known as Grants 4 Great Ideas. Teachers have the opportunity to apply for a grant with the MFEF to receive money for a great idea they have for teaching. It's the fifth year the foundation has awarded the grants. It's a way to help teachers grow their budget and encourages new ideas for teaching. QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Glens Falls woman was airlifted to Albany Medical Center after going off the road, hitting multiple road signs and a large tree on Monday. On Monday, around 10:40 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff's Office said they received a call for a personal injury resulting from a car crash at the intersection of Dixon Road and Parkview Road in Queensbury. Deputies say the driver went off the side of the road, hitting multiple signs and a large tree before coming to a rest. Deputies say the driver was unable to be removed from the car and had to be extricated by the Queensbury Central Fire Department. HAZELWOOD, Mo. - Two people were found dead inside a Hazelwood home. Wednesday morning, police believe the suspect is a family member who shot himself when police arrived at the scene.Hazelwood police are still at the scene on Woody Court, just off North Hanley, many hours after the initial call. They are securing the home behind where the victims were discovered. St. Louis County Police are also part of this investigation because a Hazelwood officer fired his weapon during a confrontation with the suspect.Hazelwood police shared that officers were called here just after 7:30 p.m. for a report of a disturbance and possible shots fired. ST. LOUIS - A business' pickup truck hit several parked cars in south St. Louis. It's unknown if that truck was stolen.Police said a white work truck hit a green Dodge pickup, as well as a white Dodge sedan. The green pickup went from where it was parked to directly behind the white sedan, over the sidewalk, and into a stairway and rail. SEASIDE – A 31-year-old man was arrested in Monterey for allegedly selling fentanyl that led to an overdose death, police said.On March 24, the Seaside Police Department responded to a medical call of a man who overdosed and ultimately died from fentanyl use at his home. After investigating the matter, Seaside detectives determined that Justin Born, 31 of Monterey, had sold the drugs to that man.Seaside detectives set out Friday for Monterey to serve an arrest and search warrant for Born at his home on Ocean Avenue. During the trip, however, a driver struck a police vehicle. There were no injuries. The incident was unrelated to warrants being served and a woman was subsequently arrested, Seaside police said.Seaside and Monterey detectives later tracked down Born. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter, as well as numerous drug trafficking felonies.
